Abstract
Describes an important effort to mandate the use of alcohol fuels for motor vehicles in Iowa during the Great Depression. Known the as the power alcohol movement, this was an important early debate in the nation's ethanol or biofuels debate and set important precedents for later energy debates in Iowa and nationwide.
